Procedures and timelines for the Olympiad
The 5th annual “Russian as a foreign language Olympiad” consists of 2 rounds. The 1st round takes place from January 22nd until February 29th, 2020.
Each participant takes a test which includes 46 questions. The test consists of 3 modules: vocabulary, grammar, and reading. You have 40 minutes to complete the first round. The test is taken online on the website www.rflrus.com, after a pre-registration procedure. The level of the test is B1 (the first certification leve). Based on the results of the first round, 10-15 participants with the highest number of correct answers will be selected for the 2nd round.
On March 2nd, the list of Olympiad participants who progressed to the 2nd round will be published on the official site of the School of Learning Russian as a Foreign Language RFL RUS (www.rflrus.com.)
Participants of the second round have to send in a video with a monologue on the topic: “Russian nature is so unique! Places [in Russia] that I would like to visit!” to the email address firstname.lastname@example.org between March 2nd and March 12th.
To make the video more competitive, the footage should be filmed in high resolution with a good image and sound quality. The video should be up to 1 minute long but should not exceed 1 minute and 10 seconds. The 2nd round will take place from March 12th until April 12th, 2020.
All videos will be published on March 12th on the website of the School of Learning Russian as a Foreign Language RFL RUS (www.rflrus.com), after which the voting period will begin on the official website and on the RFL RUS YouTube channel. The participant whose video gets the highest number of “likes” will be declared the winner of the Olympiad and will get the main prize. Second and third places will be awarded to the videos with the next highest votes (“likes”). The winner and runners-up of the Olympiad will be announced on April 13th.

The organizer retains the right to refuse the offer to participate in the internship if prize winners fail to meet these requirements. The school pays for the internship of the winner, boarding (with a host family or in a hotel, chosen by the school), and the weekly excursions. The school does not pay for the flights to and from Moscow or Voronezh, meals during the internship, personal expenses, payment for a Russian visa or medical insurance.
